Denise Calabria
Denise Calabria was born in New Jersey and, for 20 years, she enjoyed a career there with a Fortune 500 company. In 1990, she moved to Europe and began a second career with the U.S. Government, eventually serving as a civilian U.S. Army Public Affairs Specialist, in Germany.
From Germany, she volunteered to deploy with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in Iraq, from 2005 to 2006, to provide media coverage for the national election and Reconstruction efforts. There, she developed a fondness for the Iraqi people and their culture. Ultimately, she accepted the position of Public Affairs Officer, for the U.S. Navy, in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Calabria holds a BA in English from the University of Maryland University College, and is a member of the international English honor society, Sigma Tau Delta.
